The Business Model Canvas
This one is foundational! The BMC is a visual template that represents an entire business on a single piece of paper. A LOT of ink has been spilled over it already, so I’ll just summarize it in the context of facilitation. It’s a fantastic activity to run with groups that are orienting to their own mission or purpose. Newly formed teams, teams that have experienced a lot of turnover, or teams that have been handed a new mission from higher ups.
I like to have small groups each fill out a small BMC at their tables, then port their best ideas to a large wall chart using sticky notes. We then look for similar ideas and cluster them.
One other spin I like to put on the BMC is to provide a completed example… like my daughter’s idea for a food truck.
